On May 25, 2007, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that there have been an increased number of contact lens wearers who developed Acanthamoeba keratitis eye infections after using Complete MoisturePLUS . The contact solution is used by about 10% of contact lens wearers in the United States, and has been associated with a disproportionate number of the otherwise rare eye infections reported. The CDC has determined that the risk of developing Acanthamoeba keratitis for users of Complete Moisture Plus contact solution is at least seven times greater than those who use a different lens solution.
