Anna Eleanor Roosevelt – First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945
Born October 11, 1884
Died November 7, 1962
Poor little Anna. She seemed to disappoint her parents at every turn. Not only was she not very pretty or popular, but she was shy and considered “slow” by her teachers. It was only years later, as first lady of the land, that she found her true voice.
Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry is own weight, this is a frightening prospect.
Her difficulties growing up, and her dedication to public service combined to give her the courage become one of many First Ladies who lived out their marriages in often difficult circumstances, not just for the good of their families, but also for the good of the country.

Roosevelt left behind some words of wisdom for anyone facing challenges.
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’

Day 303: Quentin TarantinoQuentin Tarantino: Hollywood director. Born: March 27, 1963. For Quentin Tarantino, books were mysteries, but movies made sense. Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be involved in movies. I didn’t know what a director was; I just knew they were the only thing I gave a damn about. I remember [...
