Wirral actress ready to scale the heights for Claire House
WIRRAL actress Suzanne Collins is preparing to scale the heights for Claire House Children's Hospice.
The ex-Brookside star, and her former co-star Kris Mochrie, will travel 1,000ft along a zip wire on Liverpool's Pier Head as part of the Clatterbridge-based charity's annual fun day on July 9.
The two actors had a taste of the views they can expect when they took to the roof of the Royal Liver Building.
Suzanne, currently starring in Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels at the Royal Court Theatre, said: "Claire House is such a wonderful charity that we always do whatever we can for them, even if that means launching ourselves from a 130 ft height.
"I'm a bit of a daredevil so I'm actually really looking forward to it."
Kris, who recently appeared in Coronation Street, added: "We want as many people as possible to join us on the day and have a go on the zip wire, the views of the city will be amazing and it's all for a brilliant cause."
Participants are being asked to reserve a place on the zip wire for £20.
The funday will also include a sponsored race of 40,000 rubber ducks along the Pier Head section of the Leeds to Liverpool canal with the winning duck bagging a prize of £2,000 for the lucky sponsor.
Ducks can be bought on the day for £2 or from the liverpool duck race website, see link in section below this article.
Helen Carlson, area fundraising manager for Merseyside, said: "Kris and Suzanne jumped at the chance to do their bit for Claire House and we are grateful to them for giving up their time.
"We want as many people as possible to register for the zip wire and come along on the day to show their support.
"We are hoping to raise £40,000 which will go towards supporting our vital hospice to home service, based out of Liverpool and available to the families who require support in Merseyside.
