Automatic External Defibrillators

STAT EMS, Inc. donates two automatic external defibrillators to Flint Township

That sure is nice of them to do this. It would of been nicer if these units were new where they have less likelihood of failing when they are needed. The problem with these are they have been in the trucks and have been thrown around and been exposed to extreme cold and heat.

STAT sure has been sleeping their way around the county. As a fellow Paramedic I can say they do have a quality PR program, however the way they hire "brand new" EMT's and Paramedics is scary. They'll hire 20 plus at a time. They don't have an adequate FTO program and there are some people that are dangerous driving and patient care. Some people don't belong in EMS, however they don't care as long as it's a warm body in a uniform.

I cannot speak negative about everyone that wears a STAT EMS uniform, however it seems like all their caring, quality caregivers have been forced out.

Another concern of mine is how they recently took over the MEI program (Medical Exam Investigation). How would you feel if it was just an EMT-Basic that just graduated from EMT school making $8.50 per hour (base pay at STAT EMS after probation) that has never been around death in the prehospital setting is called to your residence to verify death using advanced equipment and making the call that your family member is dead? There is a LOT more than to checking for a pulse.

With that said, hopefully one day this county mandates higher training and will hold companies and individuals liable for their actions.

Remember, there is a lot of quality prehospital caregivers in Genesee County. But STAT as of late has gotten rid of their best so they can hire lower wage fresh licensed bodies.

AED's are best given new. STAT should of sent them back to the manufacturer to be checked over before they start giving these out to the public.

AED's really need to be placed in every business in my opinion. It is unfortunate that the price prohibits many people from owning one however.

Was she actually having a heart attack or was it chest pain? Birch Run to Saginaw? I assume it was MMR then. MMR trucks top out at 72MPH or so.

You may of felt they were only going 50mph. It always seem like they are taking their time when you are family in the truck. Anxious. Everyone feels that way.

I highly doubt she ever said it will cost you $300 dollars extra once the lights came on. They do not bill if they go lights and siren or not.
