The RTA has designed a new bridge but shelved the idea in favour of conserving the historically significant crossing. But Mr Carter argues both can co-exist; the old one for pedestrians and cyclists, thereby preserving a piece of local history, and the new one for practicality. Retaining the old structure will do nothing to improve the Forbes St intersection, which doesn’t comply with safety standards, he says.

Mr Carter has already taken his concerns to Goulburn MP Pru Goward and has urged Council to seek a meeting with Roads Minister Duncan Gay to lobby for a new bridge. “The issue should not be clouded by heritage aspects,” he told councillors.

“In the short term we should ask for the present bridge to be fenced off upon completion of the new one.

“During the building time it would be hoped that heritage and tourist money could be used to reopen the old bridge for horses, pedestrians and cyclists – the purpose for which it was built.”

RTA representatives addressed a council meeting in May, outlining plans to upgrade the structure to survive the next 30 years. This includes a new surface made of concrete composite material over stress laminated timber decking, reinforcement underneath and steel guardrails.

At the time, Cr O'Neill said it was time for a new bridge was built, rather than opting for another patch "until use.

There are also buses designed to carry around sixty five (65) passengers.

For just a handful of students, a bus with a smaller-passenger-capacity space would be suitable.

Typically, buses for schools would have a seating capacity of around fifteen (15) to ninety (90) people. Others choose to have around fifteen (15) to thirty eight (38) seating capacity. Some offer around twenty four (24) to sixty six (66) seats.

Aside from these things, there are actually five school bus types that you need to bear in mind: The Type A school bus which can ferry about 10 to 16 students, the Type B bus that can carry around 10 to 30 people, the Type C that can help transport around 10 to 54 children and teenagers, the Type D school vehicle that can carry 10 to 54 students, and the Type S which can merely hold up to 9 or less people.

In line with this, the interior should also have its own dimensions to follow.

Some buses are built with specifications around 35’ by 7.5’ by 6.5’ for its measurements.

So if you want to get a school bus service, much importance should be placed at the appropriate school bus dimensions to safely carry and transport the passengers.
