New Brownie pack raises much-needed cash at fete
KNUTSFORD’S newest Brownie Pack, 5th Knutsford Brownies, helped raise much needed funds for St John’s Toft at their church fete on Saturday.
The Brownie pack, which meets each week in the church’s hall, was invited to set up stalls and games to appeal to both adults and children attending the fete.
The Brownie pack relished the challenge and on the day ran five separate events, including the Smartie Challenge, name the teddy, nail painting, guess the number of sweets in the jar and beat the goalie – with some considerable help from Brownie Katie Chaplin’s older brother Aaron, who took 540 penalties in four hours.
St John’s Toft Church were delighted when at the end of the fete, the 5th Knutsford Brownies presented them with £141.15.
Leader Caroline Timms said: “Being a Brownie is a lot about learning to work as a team and be a valuable, and valued, member of your local community.
“The girls were thrilled and are very proud of the funds they raised.

Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
Thoroughly grease the inside of four clean canning jars with butter. Set aside.
Prepare the brownie batter per your recipe's instructions.
Pour the batter into each of the greased jars, filling them one-fourth full. Tap the jars lightly on the counter to release any air bubbles. Place the filled jars on a cookie sheet, arranged so that they are not touching each other.
Bake the jars for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
